A friend recently introduced me to an enzyme called L-Theanine, this magical little enzyme is hidden away in our beautiful teas that we drink every day.
L-Theanine is a relaxing and nondietary amino acid found pretty much exclusively in teas from Camellia sinensis (alongside Green Tea Catechins and Caffeine) and is known to promote relaxation without sedation. It appears to be effective at this as well as reducing stress at standard dosages. In other words, L-Theanine has the ability to remove your caffeine buzz or caffeine anxiety some people may experience, and still have that amazing coffee focus that most people want.

In Australia between 2004 and 2010, there were 297 calls to the NSW Poisons Information Line concerning toxicity from caffeinated energy drinks. The most commonly reported symptoms included palpitations/tachycardia, tremors, shaking, agitation and restlessness.

- Whether other drugs are taken around the same time
- The amount was taken
The following effects may be experienced between 5 to 30 minutes after consuming caffeine, and may continue for up to 12 hours:

- Restlessness, excitability and dizziness
- Anxiety and irritability
- Dehydration and needing to urinate more often
- Higher body temperature
- Faster breathing and heart rate
- A headache and lack of concentration
- Stomach pains
Everything is moderation right! L-Theanine allows coffee drinkers to take the edge of the caffeine effect, and remain claim and more focused rather than physically anxious and having that uncomfortable edgy feel.
From 5 to 6 cups of a coffee a day since last year, I found myself in all sorts of mess. I get twitchy eyes, shaky hands, and often strange anxiety coming out from nowhere. But when I start to drink tea with my coffees, I found my focus ability has increased and there were no annoying edgy anxiety and shakes anymore.
